Yesterday our country was able to witness the successful launch of Falcon 9, a product and project from SpaceX.  You can quickly and easily access the information from their website.

Being a huge fan of private enterprise and investment, I have to say that SpaceX is an incredibly exciting aspect of the United States – the reason is that we have some of the greatest minds on the planet working to get more into and out of space exploration.  The incentive?  Profits, happy customers, and successful defense.

From their company website: “SpaceX aims to change this paradigm by developing a family of launch vehicles which will ultimately reduce the cost and increase the reliability of space access by a factor of ten. Coupled with the newly emerging market for private and commercial space transport, this new model will re-ignite humanity’s efforts to explore and develop Space.”

How exciting!  How wonderful to have a private company working on space travel and exploration, and how enlivening to know that now I, as a consumer and investor, can play a part in this because it is a part of our free market where anybody can play.

The American Power Act, or S.1733  is now here and viewable.

I think we can all agree that there does need to be exploration into safer, cleaner, more sustainable energy choices.  Not only is it better for our environment, they are much better for a struggling economy (i.e. by promoting new industry).  That does not mean that the reliance or need for petroleum and coal will magically disappear (nor should it), it just means that the market should understand that petroleum and coal (like most everything) are scarce resources.  Most importantly, in the case of petroleum, it makes us dependent upon foreign markets and sources (sometimes people and places that go against what we stand for as a free and moral country).

My question is, how sustainable is this when we have to be “ordered” to make changes by a bill/act/government entity.  I am the first to agree that there MUST be government regulations.  I am the last to agree that government “regulations” should include incentives and punishments that intervene with free market activities.  There’s a difference.

It will take us awhile to make it through all of the language in the bill, however, I urge you to be cautious, and to send us any information and ideas that you have, that may be helpful in understanding this new piece of legislation, as well as alternative solutions that are more reliant upon a free market with government regulations versus a government-run industry/market with “false” incentives.

Interesting that the US Chamber of Commerce is behind it – that is likely a statement in itself.  We have hundreds of small businesses that are a part of our company’s operations.

Protect small businesses and be wary of additional regulations and reforms that make doing business impossible.

Now THIS is what should happen – we should all be classified as AMERICAN.  Why?  Well, we are all part of this great melting pot, and we all have various heritages and cultures and histories to be very proud of.   That is part of our American culture – we are all a part of something very different than us, but that is what makes our country so great.  WE are Americans, and you may be any color, race, creed, or religion, but we are all part of THIS country.

And you can practice whatever faith you like, and you can eat whatever type of food suits your fancy, and you can utilize the first amendment to exercise “free speech”.  However, at the end of the day, we are all part of this country – right or left, conservative or liberal, black, white, brown, whatever.  WE THE PEOPLE are part of The United States of America, and we are FREE, and we should be so happy that we are where people come to find freedom.

I AM AMERICAN, and I am very proud of my ancestry, but when it comes to being counted as a citizen in this great country, I consider myself American – nothing different.

After reading Atlas Shrugged my philosophy on capitalism and the public welfare took its final plunge into becoming a devoted and sworn advocate for the free-market.  I have been an entrepreneur since able to make products (including Coke-flavored sand in my younger (very young) years) and collecting money (usually in the form of pennies – Mom & Dad as consumers – were not privy to my sand idea, but I still made a small profit because of the abundant resources at that time).

I believe in a limited government constrained by the Constitution of the United States of America and the citizens of this country.  I also believe in helping people – but think that the best way to do that is to teach people how to be productive and efficient members of society.  Teach them to fish – teach them to make money.  This will increase their standard of living, as well as the community and economy at-large.  A good friend often uses the analogy – giving a “hand-up versus a hand-out”.  There’s a big difference, and our current political and economic state has made a drastic dip towards the latter.

Capitalism, the quest for profits and wealth, has been given a very bad name.  The market and the means to market are often considered impersonal and unjust.  The market has no social agendas, no hopes, and no goals attached to it.  The market and successful economic policy can only be based on incentives made for producers and consumers.  This differs drastically from what we have seen recently in government.  Social agendas – housing, healthcare, and environmental regulations – have become a part of our economic policy.  Based on past countries’ experiences with a heavy-handed government attempting to “protect” people’s pocketbooks, we are in for some very rough times ahead, as false signals are omnipresent in the marketplace, in every industry that we have producing goods and services, and we have yet to see how this affects all of our own individual interests in our society and economy.  Nonetheless, we are still operating as free citizens – and I believe that no matter how bad we have wronged our free-market, that the American consumer has the will and drive to make it right.

Another day, another exhausting showcase on what is wrong with the world and the system.

Some refreshing news, the National Tea Party convention is getting some good press, and some of their topics and speakers thus far have truly spoken for “We the People”.

Again, there is a lot of what is wrong, and I want to focus again on what it RIGHT!  I am 100% confidant that this great Country can pull itself out of economic and social problems using our Liberty & Free Markets.

So, a quick to-do list:

First visit Get Out of Our House – an organization TRULY dedicated to ousting the bad politicians regardless of party-lines.  Let’s start over with TRUE CITIZENS representing us!

Next, find a farmers’ market, CSA-program, or other local food program (find a great database here – Local Harvest) to join and be a part of this upcoming spring/summer/fall.  Local food systems are better for our economy, our environment, and our liberty.

Next, make a pledge to buy AMERICAN, LOCAL, and HAND-MADE whenever and wherever you can.  Find a list of sites and companies in our Blog-Roll.

Lastly, support local media sources that are bi-partisan and seek to appeal to Independent Minds that love Liberty, Free-Markets, and our Great Country.  The Good American Post does just that.

It is simple:
1. Get rid of the bad politics that make up our laws and justice system
2. Eat healthy, local food that supports our producers
3. Purchase consumer-goods from American companies
4. Support local, non-partisan media that is dedicated to our Constitution and Liberty

Together, we make the difference.

Some would agree that the most important aspect of our country, and the constitutional principals that our country was founded upon, has to do with liberty.

What does “liberty” really mean?  Liberty is about freedom, but it is also about responsibility.  Perhaps the greatest responsibility is to be an active consumer and constituent – making sure that your dollar and your vote go towards products, services, and people that you believe in.
